Leadership development seminar set for Friday
The UNL Institute of Agriculture and National Re
sources and the East Campus Ag Advisor Board will co
sponsor a seminar titled "A Leadership Development
Seminars for Leaders of Student Organizations.
The seminar will be Friday in the East Campus Union.
It is open to all UNL students, faculty and staff.
Mark Freesc, vice president of the board, said, "the
seminar will provide students and staff an opportunity

to hear nationally known speakers in the field of leader
ship development."
Freese said in addition to providing the chance to
acquire good ideas in leadership skills, the seminar will
also direct emphasis on leadership at an individual's own
level.
Program highlights include "Looking at Self in Pre
paration for Leadership, "Developing Effective Leader
ship within the Organization and the Institute " and "Us
ing Leadership Skills at the Local Level.'
Freese said program speakers will feature Lois ()live,
clinical psychologist and visiting professor at UNL's Hu
man Development and the Family Department, Burl
Winchester, professor of Adult Education and Human
Development at Montana State University; and Roger
Sandman, director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Depart
ment of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.
Freese said Olive has served as a vocational consultant
for the U.S. Department of Health, Education andWelfare,
and that Winchester has a national reputation as a consult,
ant and workshop director in the areas of communica
and leadership

Sandman taught Vocational Agriculture at Wood River
and served former Gov. J. James Exon as Deputy
Secretary of Agriculture.
Concert rides offered
Austin Realty and the National Bank of Com
merce will provide free transportation to the first
Lincoln Symphony Concert Oct. 14 when soloist
Robert Peters will perform.
Austin Realty's English double-decker bus has
capacity for 55 passengers. Preregjstration will be
gin today in the School of Music office.
Students with half-price Symphony season
tickets are eligible. The bus will leave from and
return to the National Bank of Commerce.

8th National Conference
for State Student
Associations.
UNL representatives

attend the conference Oct.
24 through 26 at the Uni
versity of Kansas, said Ann
Block, GLC co-vice chair
person. Block said the confer
ence will sponsor various
activities explaining how to
organize a state student
association. It will also pro
vide information so that the
association may better serve
its constituents.
