On Oct. 3 at 8 pmn Harper 9 will have their own little sister rush, said Don Gebers, rush chairman. Gebers said three or four guys from Harper 9 were thinking about having the rush last semester, but it was too late in the year. The large interest in it again this year is a result of 60 to 70 percent of the men returning to the floor from last year, he said. Gebers doesn't know if the little sister rush will continue in the future since most of the men will be leaving the floor next year. Thirty girls have signed up and a few have called from off campus, Gebers said. Some of the girls that called were interested in Harper 9's rush because they didnt like the frater nity programs, he said. Gebers can't understand why they (the fraternities) "should have all the fun when were just as fun. He described Harper 9 as a "dose knif floor that likes to have a good time. A lot of people thought the rush was "a big joke when they saw the sign in the windows on the floor, Gebers said. After putting an ad in the Daily Nebras kan, there was a more posi tive response, he added. Anyone is welcome to attend the rush party, Gebers said, including girls living in dormitories, sororities and off campus. A few men that lived on the floor last year rented apartments, Gebers said They are allowing us to have the parties there to get around the unversity's rule on alcohol, he said. Another one of the men's parents has a farm in Ashland that can be used for pig roasts, Gebers said. To make the little sister rush legitimate, Harper 9 elected rush officers at the same time they elected regular floor officers, Gebers said. The parties are separate from the floor's functions, he added. Several student assistants in the Harper-Schramm-Smith complex as well as Harper 9's assistants are supporting the rush, he said. About 40 men from the floor are participating in the program, Gebers said. Each one donated $5 to help pay for the little sister functions. The money that was donated was placed into a separate account from the floor's, he said. Gebers said that they are planning to have a function at least once a month, de pending on how long the money lasts. He added that if possible, they will have fund-raising projects. Gebers said he sees no reason for the university to prevent them from hav ing fund raisers since it will be private money. Yourself.
