Husker game could be a runaway
HARE & HOUND
ROAD RALLY WINNERS
After a great public outcry I am revealing my percent
ages this week. I had a late September slump last week,
hitting only 27 of 36 for a .750 mark. For the season
I'm 7M9, a .790 pace. Now for this week's games.
In case you haven't heard yet, Nebraska plays Penn
State this week on national tv. This should be the
Huskers' toughest game to date but that's not saying
much. In fact, this game could turn into a runaway too.
Penn State has looked impressive in their first two
wins, but against Colgate and Texas A&M, it's hard not
to look impressive. The fact is, while the Lions have a
decent running attack, they still don't have a very good
quarterback. And they're going to need one because it's
doubtful that they'll be able to run much on the Huskers.

It's hard to see how the Penn State defense will be
able to slow down the Huskers, especially Jarvis Redwine.
The Husjcers have too much speed for the Lions to be able
to contain them the entire game: Nebraska 35 Penn
State 17.
Stanford at Oklahoma. There's really no rational
explanation for Stanford's loss to Boston College last
week. Games like that just show how absurd life can be.
It would be even more absurd if Stanford upset Okla
homa. Don't laugh. Two years ago Stanford lost by a
touchdown to the Sooners. Stanford's big advantage is
that their strength-the passing game-matches up well
with the main Sooner weakness on defense-the secondary.
Also the Sooners are often their own worst enemies
in early games because of their habit of fumbling five or
six times a game. If they don't have too many turnovers,
Oklahoma should hold on and edge the Cardinals: Okla
homa 28 Stanford 24.
Louisville at Kansas Louisville fans don't have much
to cheer about these days. Darrell Griffith has gone off
to play for the Utah Jazz and, even worse, Phyllis George
Brown has yet to lose all of the weight she gained while
she was pregnant.
Of course, that doesn't have much to do with who will
win this game. This should give you a good idea of how
bad Louisville is: The oddsmakers have made Kansas
a 12 point favorite. When you consider the fact that
Kansas has scored only 10 points all year, this is nothing
short of remarkable.

For Kansas this game is a last chance to get their
offense going before they have to face the most difficult
part of their schedule. And, after all, it's not often you
are able to score more in one game than you have the
entire season: Kansas 23 Louisville 6.
