We were so busy in Atlantic City," she said, "After
competition from Tuesday through Saturday, I got to see
my family and friends about IS to 20 minutes and then I
went to bed,-she said.
However, her experiences were not all trouble free. She
said she lost her voice before the interview, but explained
her dilemma to the judges and recovered before the
second day.
Getting to meet pageant Master of Ceremonies Ron Ely
also was exciting for MitchelL
"My co-pilot to Kansas City knew Ron Ely " she said.
"They had gone to school together. He gave me a note to
give to Ron, but it took me four days to get up my nerve
to give it to him. Ron turned out to be a really warm and
down-to-earth person, not to mention, handsome. The
girls just loved hint, she said.
Mitchell said many of the girls at the pageant received
training in how to walk and present themselves, but most
of the girls from the midwest were just themselves.
Mitchell, a classical pianist, takes private lessons from
Audan Ravnan, a professor in the UNL School of Music.
Mitchell said Ravnan chose the piece she played for her
talent presentation. She won the pageant talent award and
a $2,000 scholarship.
Now that the pageant is over, Mitchell said she has set a
new goal for herself.
ul feel it is my job to travel around Nebraska and
support the Miss Nebraska pageant, especially in the
western portion, she said. "1 would like to get more girls
involved. It is a terrific experience and I feel very fortu
nate to have taken part.
Coe suit . . .

She said they were disgusted that this type of incident
could happen at UNL.
"We're indignant that anybody could downgrade the
university the way it has been, she said. "It makes the
university look bad.
"Freedom of speech can go too far at times.
Mrs. Coe concluded that she didnt want to say any
thing about the lawsuits before consulting their attorney.
"We don't want to say anything we shouldn't that
might end up jeopardizing the case, she said.
Coe's attorney, Robert Creager, said that although he
received the letter from Coe requesting that some course
of action be pursued, he first has to talk to Coe about
"specifics.
Creager said he already has done research on all aspects
of the case but it is up to Coe to decide who he files
against and for what reasons. He said he wouldn't com
ment on his recommendations until after he has talked
to Coe.
"I've done the research though and once I find out
what he (Coe) wants it wouldn't take long to get a peti
tion in to get into court," Creager said.
Although Creager said he wouldn't say what all the
legal possibilities are he did say that his research did in
clude Sen. Chambers.
"Mr. Coe hasn't excluded the possibility of action
against Senator Chambers to my knowledge," Creager
said. "If there is a lawsuit against Chambers it would
probably be separate though."
Creager also said that although Coe had not requested
anything about the papers that used quotes from the let
ter, he had also done research on that aspect.
"My duty is to make sure 1 fulfill his (Coes) wishes
and I have to talk to him about some specifics before
anything more is done," Creager said.
