monday, tcptember 8 1DSO daily nebraskan fetes t Q.3 cd!IJ7 f7 (A U Ihf Continued from Page 4 Posters stolen Every year at this time our student organization, ECKANKAR, tries to put an attractive display in the Nebraska Union. Hopefully, this will allow those who are in terested to find out more about our ideas. It seems that this year, we have succeeded in being more attractive than we expected. Several of our posters were removed and presumably taken to someone's home or dorm room. The posters were mounted and laminat ed pictures of seagulls, ocean sunsets and the moon with inspirational statements. One said, "Only those who risk going too far will ever And out how far they can go." Evidently someone took this to heart in the wrong way and decided to steal the pictures. I can understand how attractive those posters are to someone who needs to beautify their living space. However this does place a burden on my own time and money to try to replace these materials. It seems to me that I would find no joy in looking at these posters knowing that they were stolen. I would appreciate having them returned to me in some way. My name is listed in the city phone book and the campus centrex directory. By the way, each of the posters were laminated with the label "ECKANKAR-A Way of Life." Keith Larsen Graduate College Statement false Regarding a story titled "Instrument fees initiated," which appeared in Thurs day's Daily Nebraskan, there are two points to which I would like to respond. The statement that "the UNL School of Music received a 10 percent budget increase this year" is false. I explained that operating expenses were increased 10 percent this year, but be cause of a deficit that required an emer gency 15 percent cut in operating ex penses, we had 5 percent less available this year. Secondly, I think that Kim Bergman's opinion is one that only shows complete ignorance of the questions involved and hardly deserves printing, unless the point was to demonstrate this ignorance. The in struments do not just "sit there," but are used very heavily and are subject to much wear and tear. If we are to keep them in top condition, having a qualified technician available is the best way to accomplish this. Also, if a student wishes to use his or her instrument instead of a School of Music instrument, we have no objections whatsoever. Stu dents may rent instruments from local music stores if they prefer. One more point: The writer of the story misspelled my name consistently through out the story.
