He has served as a reporter, copy editor and night news editor in four semesters at the Daily Nebraskan. The associate news editor will be Kathy Chenault, a junior from York, who will report for the Lincoln Star until the fall semester starts. Gordon Johnson and Tom Prentiss will serve as assistant news editors. Johnson is a junior from Lincoln and will intern this summer at the Rapid City Journal. He has been a re porter for three semesters at the Daily Nebraskan, includ ing one semester as Legisla tive Bureau Chief. Prentiss has been a re porter and columnist for the Daily Nebraskan, and will be a World Herald news intern during the summer. He is a junior from Arling ton Heights, III. Casey McCabe, a senior from Lincoln, will be enter tainment editor in the fall. McCabe has served on the entertainment staff for six semesters, including one as entertainment editor. A broadcasting major, McCabe is employed at KRNU, and has written for the Nebraska Voice. Shelley Smith will return as sports editor for the second semester. Next fall will be Smith's fifth Students given internships in Washington UNL students are intern ing in Washington, D.C. this semester, in placements arranged by UNL's College of Arts and Sciences and the Washington Center for Learning Alternatives, (WCLA), a non-profit edu cational agency. "Internships have be come an increasingly popul ar component of a student's curricula, providing an opportunity to integrate academic theory with practice in an applied situa tion," said Millie Katz, co ordinator of the UNL office of experimental education. Interning in Washington, D.C., are UNL seniors Daniel Wermers of Omaha, with the Democratic Nat ional Committee; Jane Starrett of Holdrege, with the 95th New Member's Caucus, and juniors Susan Depue of Anaheim, Calif., with AYUDA; Rick Schmidt of Fremont, with Congressman Doug Bereuter's Capitol Hill office, and Dawn Wadlow of Lincoln. This summer UNL seniors Susan Braun of Omaha, James Ruby of Lisco, Mari Lane of Lincoln, and Cindy Johnson of Potter, will go to Washing ton. Also interning this sum mer will be juniors Kathy LuU of Beatrice, Wendy Wysong of Lincoln, Rosann Park of Lincoln, and Ronald Lamb of Fremont. for the Daily Nebraskan. Next fall will be her seventh semester on the paper. She is a Lincoln native. Fathom editor will be Diane Andersen, a junior from Lincoln who has been on the Daily Nebraskan staff for four semesters. She will be a World Herald news intern.
