lie said the board of regents took a "bold step" in
leadership by revising the policy.
Other college campuses with similar religion policies
will look at NU new policy and use it as a model for
changes, Rogers said.
The new policy allows more freedom on campus, he
said, and Iranian groups will now be able to meet on
campus and express their religious preferences.
Marlin Sccvers, president of Campus Crusade for
Christ, said he had heard that the ASUN Student Court
will stick to its original decision and keep the group on
probation. However, he said Campus Crusade for Christ
also has filed an appeal with ASUN.
"We would like to have our names cleared," Seevers
said.
Seevers said he was pleased with the new religion
policy, and that it will allow students freedom of speech.
The old policy violated many student rights, he said.
With the new policy, Seevers said groups would be able
to have meetings without threat of censorship. Yet, he
said the group has heard nothing about its appeal request
from ASUN.
Chief Justice Scott Cook said the four groups arc going
to have to ask to be taken off probation. He said their
cases would have to be evaluated and that it was up to
ASUN to decide whether to lift the probation.
Nothing will be decided until next fall because ASUN
doesn't meet during the summer, Cook said.
