thursday, february 14, 1980 daily nebraskan page 3 ASUN approves organizations . An almost empty agenda of business marked Wednesday night's ASUN meeting, as the Senate passed only one bill and adjourned in a little over one hour. The Senate bill approving the constitutions of 14 UNL student organizations was the only item passed. An amendment to the voting and non-voting member, ship and internships of the Government Liaison Committee failed to garner Senate approval. The amendment would have called for the ASUN executive committee and the CLC chairperson to appoint four students to have voting memberships, with the approval of the Senate. Any other students, could also become voting members with the approval of most appoint ed (JLC members. ASUN presidential -candidate Renee Wessels voted against the amendment while presidential candidate John Parsons abstained. ASUN president Bud Cuca announced the appoint ments of Gary Gilson, James L. Young, Ben Belmont, Gail Casteel, Jim Davidson and Liz Usher as associate judges in the Student Court. Sen. Carrie Best was also appointed as new chairperson for the Academic Policy committee, following the resignation as senator of Janice Kluck, who will begin student teaching in March. Cuca also announced items of interest for this Saturday's NU Board of Regents meeting. Cuca said he will be discussing the possibility for the regents to come in Friday nights before their meetings to have informal meetings with students. "Regent Ed Schwartzkopf of Lincoln is in favor of these informal meetings and hopefully they will be reality later this spring," Cuca said . ( H5 Food tax credit bill passed LB44, which would raise the food sales tax credit from $20 to $28, Wednesday was passed with a vote of 42-4. The bill, introduced by Sen. Richard Maresh of-Milligan, will allow Nebraskans to claim $28- of food sales tax on their state income tax forms. An amendment offered by Lincoln Sen. Chris Beutler, which would like the amount of the credit and the consumer price; index, failed to receive approval with a 19 26 vote. "I think they did not vote on the merits of the amendment. I think they were just tired of fooling around with LB44," Beutler said. In its original form, LB44 would have allowed only a refund of $23. On Jan. 28 an amendment was approved which would raise the limit to $26. On the same day Sen. David Newell of Omaha received, approval of his amendment raising the credit to $28. Nebraskans will receive the credits when they file their 1981 tax forms.
