Before hitting the slopes,
find out what it will cost

This time of year may be a popular
season for skiing, but before planning a
winter wonderland on the slopes, you
should know how much cash you might
need. ; , 'v " " .- - y :
A person who knows how to ski and
owns skis, boots and poles may spend less
than a novice without equipment. A be
ginner going to a Colorado ski resort has to
pay for lift tickets, ski rental and ski ,
lessons. ; -: - '
At Steamboat Springs, an adult who
rents skis, boots and poles for downhill
skiing must pay $8 a day. Cross country
rates are $6 a day.
Lift tickets at Steamboat are $14 a day.
and $9 for a half day. Three five-and six
day tickets are available for $39, $65 and
$78, respectively.
Ski lessons at Steamboat are $9 for a
two-hour lesson and $12 for a three -hour
lesson. Private lessons are $20 for one
hour, $36 for two hours and $48 for three
hours.
Ski rental at Vail is $8 to $10 for down
hill and $5,50-$7 for cross country.

Lift tickets at Vail are $16 per day,
three-day tickets are $48 and six-day
.tickets are $90. ;
Lessons at Vail at $10 a half day and
$16 a full day.
Rental rates at Aspen are $9 for down
hill and $7 for cross country.

day downhill and $5 .50-$7 for cross
country.

for a half day, $48 for four days and $64
for six days,
Breckenridge lessons
Lessons at Breckenridge are $9 a half
day, $13 a full day. Lessons have 10 skiers
in a class. A one -hour private lesson costs
$25.
Copper Mountain rental is $7 for a half
day and $9 for a full day.
Lift tickets sell for $14 and $10 for a
full day and half day respectively. A three
day pass is $37, four days is $46 and a six
day is $64.
Ski lessons at Copper Mountain cost
$10 for one two-hour class and $13 for one
fourJiour class. ,.
Renting equipment; daily at Keystone
costs $8,50 for downhill and $8 for cross
country,'
Keystone charges $13 a day for lift
tickets and $9 for half a day. Three, four
and six-day passes are $33 , $44 and $66.

Costs of lodging varies depending on the I
numbef of people, number of nights and
type of lodging. Many resorts offer pack
age deals including lodging accommoda

transportation, Coach air fare from Lincoln
to Denver on United is $178 round trip.
Trailways bus fare is $70.40 round trip.
