Thursday, Jan. 17, in the union. An apparent forgery of a UNL diploma has been brought to the attention of the UNL administration, said Randy Kleager, UNL police investigator. The man involved had worked for at least one year at the Iowa Mental Health Clinic at Clarinda, Iowa, and had resigned before the controversy came up, Kleager said.. Administration officials discovered the alleged forgery Dec. 31 and reported it to university police Jan. 9, he said. . . ,s The suspect is a 26-year-old resident of Bellevue.Neb., who held a job in Sarpy County before getting the position in Clarinda, said Ron Lundy, UNL police investigator. ; - In addition to taking classes at UNL, the man had been enrolled at Nebraska Wesleyan University. The discrepancy was uncovered when the Iowa Merit Commission contacted UNL officials to check on the validity of the man's credentials. According to Kleager, the man was applying for a position as a clinical psychologist, but UNL officials discovered the man had taken only one or two classes at the university. ' 1 ..... " The Merit Commission sent UNL officials a copy of the diploma in question. It was dated Dec. 23, 1978, and was signed by; D.B. Varner, as NU president, and James Moylan, as board of regents chairman. 4,At that time!
