Hail comrades of the "Progressive
Student Union. You repeated the official
Moscow Party Line most admirably
concerning the running dogs in the CIA,
nuclear power, and the shah (all tools of
the sadistical and mad United States).
Gorky University would be proud to have
you complete your training there. Even
your name exploits "newspeak extremely
well.
Never let doubts enter your minds, such
as the lies that the KGB is repressive and
that our Cuban lackeys (oops, I mean our
brothers in revolution) are kidnapping
thousands of Afripan youth for indoctrina
tion. We know this is not true. The KGB
would not hurt a fly let alone an East Ger
man, and we also know that the Angolan
youth are just taking a 10-year vacation on
the Isle of Pines or having a prolonged sum
mer job in the beautiful suburbs of Havana.

Safety first
A recent article which appeared in an
earlier publication of this paper, outlines
many deficiencies and unorthodox
activities purported to be in practice at the
Maintenance Division, University of
Nebraska. In my opinion, these accusations
are without basis and are perversions of
: truth.
Accusations that the University Main
tenance Division has no safety program can
only be in error! The Division is an active
proponent of "Safety First' in the services
it performs. However, if a Craftsman, after
becoming aware of dangerous conditions
continues to expose himself to that
condition, injury will be the result. Crafts-.
men can only be as injury free as they are
safety conscious.
The Maintenance Division Apprentice
ship Program was implemented two years
ago and is an on the job training program
in conjunction, with accredited and class
room activities at Southeast Community
College. The program is state and federally
licensed as an approved program. Students
within the program are assigned Journey
man craftsmen to work with them until
such, time as their supervisors feel that each
student is capable of commanding his job
on an individual basis. On occasion, both
Journeyman and craftsman will not be en
gaged in Journeyman work, simply by the
nature of the occupation.
Personal evaluations are made of all em
ployees on a regular basis to monitor per
formance and achievement. The Director
of Physical Plant has indicated to his staff
the importance of these evaluations and
has never pre -determined that any em
ployee should be held back or restricted.
Other points that were addressed by the
author were in my opinion untruths of

Gun control
Your Dec. 11 editorial is another classic
example of people blaming society's ills on
guns. OK, let's have a perfect society where
everyone is equal, like communism. They
don't let the people have guns over there.
Guns don't kill, people do. Gun control
won't solve any problem, it's people
control that we need. With a liberal like
Kennedy in office, we, won't get people
control. But I ain't worried about Teddy.
His past and present acts and outbursts of
irresponsibility will push him oui of the
limelicht. On the Iran situation and hit r.

marks thereon, he will surely be the winner
in the First Annual Andrew Young
Trouble-causing Awards Presentation.
As, for those polls mentioned, didn't
you get those from the Bambi Fan Club?
But don't worry, weak-hearted, with
people who care and the National Rifle
Association, this country will remain free.
