Faulkner Lecture at UNL on Friday. "Simon is the first of a number of dis- tfoguisned figures in the fields of business and economics we will be bringing to UNL to present E J. Faulkner Lectures," said College of Business Administration Dean Gary Schwendiman. Expenses of the lectureship program are underwritten by a $100,000 gift from Woodmen Accident and life Company in recognition of the long and distinguished service of E J. Faulkner to the health and life insurance profession and to the Wood men Company, of which he was president for 40 years. Faulkner, a 1932 graduate of NO, has been the recipient of many national awards, including the Insurance Man of the Year in 1956. He has served as a member of the Advisory Council on Sochi Security, as a consultant to the White House Conference on Aging, as first president of the Health Insurance Association of America, as presi dent of the American Life Convention, and as a trustee of the American College of Life Underwriters. Spurgin said- the 400 cases sold was about 100 cases under his goal. About 1,000 persons in Lincoln sold honey door to door, Spurgin said, adding that nearly 800 of the volunteers were members of UNL fraternities and sororities Boy Scouts, members of Women in Life Insurance and association employees com prised the remainder of the volunteers, he said. Pat Rowan, assistant executive director of the Nebraska Association for Retarded Citizens, said statewide results are not yet computed because all returns are not in. Omaha's Honey Sunday is not until Nov. 11, he said. Rowan said money raised will be used to support local programs benefiting re tarded citizens. According to Spurgin, Lin coln programs include a retarded citizen advocacy program, pilot parents, a group that trains parents of retarded citizens to help othrs who give birth to retarded child ren, a summer vacation program for retard ed persons and a Jubilee Art Festival. In addition, Rowan said, the funds will be used to educate the public about mental retardation and maintain local associations for retarded citizens. Nebraska's Honey Sunday program ori ginated in Grand Island about 22 years ago, Rowan said. It is the only statewide pro gram of its kind and has received national recognition, he added.
