morning for Des Moines to attend the pub.
lie celebration of the mass with Pope John
Paul II.
Father Leonard Kalin of the Newman
Student Center said the group is still
unsure of what the trip'will be like.
"With the massive crowds that are going
to be there, we're not sure how organized
anything will be," Kalin said.
There have been many more requests
to accompany us, but we had to cut off the
figures at ISO due to the need for prepara
tion of meals," he said.
The group will arrive in Des Moines at
9:30 a jn. Wednesday and participate in the
day's activities before attending Thursday's
mass. Iowa bishops will participate along
with Pope John Paul II in mass.
Father Kalin added that he is waiting
for a letter to confirm a personal invitation
to attend another Mass to be held in Phila
delphia this weekend.
'H have received a phone call from a
bishop with an unofficial invitation, but I
am waiting for an oflkal one through the
mail," he said.
