college freshrnm who had iust enrolled in the
Evelyn Wcxxl course. The answers were varied,

Why Do Most Students -Head

Most students have no idea what their reading
ability is. If they are typical, they read about 3(X)
words per minute (or one page of a novel). Why
is it tha,t students read at virtually the same speed,
considering how very different they all are?

Grade. When we were taught to read, we were
asked to read out loud, word by word. Later, in.
the Second Grade, we were asked to stop saying
each word out loud. But we never really did. Fact
