Nebraska's tractor testing grounds are unique to the Western Hemisphere, and it provides a bureau of stan dards for the Western Hem isphere. Tractors from such places as Russia, Japan, and Germany are tested Here, Splinter said. The tractors are tested for such things as horse power, fuel consumption, and noise levels, he said. The annex was built because newer tractors will not fit in the existing build ing. Alex Martin, an associate professor of agronomy is one of eight persons nationally to be cited by the CIBA-Geigy Corporation, a major manufacturer of herbicides. Martin received the 1980 CIBA-Gelgy Award In Agronomy. He was cited for his research and extension efforts In week control.
