The Huskers raised their record to 174 while Creighton dropped to 4-11-1. Ray Tromba (2-2) was the winning pitcher and Gary Nolting earned a save in the 10-8 first game. Tim Pettit and Cliff Faust combined for a seven-hitter as the Huskers. routed the Bluejays 15-3 in the nightcap. Senior Bob Gebler, the Husker's design ated hitter socked two home runs and knocked in five of Nebraska's ten runs in the opener. Third baseman Jeff Hunter, a sophomore transfer from UNO added a pair of homers and drove in four runs in the second game. Gebler said the homers were his second and third of the season. "My job is to get on base, but I'll take the home runs when they come," he said. Hunter said a bruised bone in his wrist has caused him to change his swing. He said he usually averages about 13 homers a year, adding that he had been wondering when the home runs would start coming this year. Coach John Sanders said the games were very important for the Huskers because the team has been idle since Friday and needed some games to get the kinks out before Ne braska opens their Big Eight season in Colorado this Saturday. Sanders said Gebler and Hunter were given the two game balls for their home runs. He also praised the Huskers' pitching staff. "We didn't give up many walks," Sanders said. "This is what we want our pitchers to do." He said the Huskers looked good but the team has to cut down on both mental and physical errors. The Huskers are working on a double header for Thursday which will start at 1:30.
