Regprits to reconsider open admissions policy Saturday

Robert Simmons proposal that the university drort its
open admissions policy. . r
The regents asked NU officials last month to bring al
ternatlve admissions plans to Saturday! meeting. Stand
ards have been suggested that would admit students on
the basis of class tank, grades, andor ACT or SAT scores.
The UNL Faculty Senate has passed a resolution
recommending "in the strongest possible terms that the
traditional policy of open admissions be continued "
The administration, however, will not recommend any
action to the regents Saturday, according to Ned Hedges,
UNL vice chancellor for academic affairs.
The board, m also consider a recommendation to
place the UtyLbasedj)ental College under the adminlstra
tlve control of the Medical Center In Omaha;
The board's Academic and Business Affairs committees
will meet at 9 a.m., and the formal meeting will start at
1:30 p.m.
Other items on the agenda Include:
-Discussion of NU's compliance with new federal re
tirement laws which become effective in 1982.
-A proposal to limit the number of football tickets
allowed each regent.
