dally nebrsskan Wednesday, march 14, 1979 ;2 Meeting sponsors push UNL bicycling team possibilities Formation of a UNL bicycling team will be discussed Thursday in the Nebraska Union at 7:30 pjn. The UNL recreation department, Phil Senna of the Physical Education department and students Ken Dorman and Terry Anderson are sponsoring the meeting. "The main goal of the bicycling team is to pull out some riders who want to race or just have a good time, Dorman said. "By joining the university bicycling team, one may be considered a member of the Husker Road Club, which is Omaha based and affiliated with the US. Cycling Federa tion which is part of the A.A.U., he added. As a member of the Husker Road Club, a person would be allowed to race in any sanctioned bicycling races, Dor man said. Also by joining the team an individual could join the Salt Valley Cycling Club of Lincoln, race for the univer sity or race unattached, he explained. "Anybody can join the bicycling team and it doesn't have to get expensive unless you want to be a hot dog," Dorman said. Dorman, who already is a member of the U.S. Cycling Federation said he participates almost every weekend in races within 200 miles of Lincoln. Most races are in Law- BASS SUNJUNS,R,ARE FOR REAL! If there are, no sanctioned races, the club sponsors its own. The meeting Thursday will include t film on bike racing. A training guide by Eddie "BM, a former Polish bicycling coach, will be distributed. The guide in cludes proper diets and exercises. The bicycling team plans to have time trials in Ashland, Neb. each Tuesday starting April 17. Starting April 19, the team will have training races every first and third Thursday in Omaha. A race will be held by Lincoln radio station X103 April 24. Club training races will be March 18 and 25.
