The committee broke Dunbar's motion down, to a $4,400 allocation for executive salaries, including SI ,600 allocation for the president's salary and $1,400 for each vice president's salary. This portion of the motion failed by 38 vote. The committee later approved a $1,400 allocation to the president and $800 salary allocations to each of the vice presidents by a 74 vote, along with approval of the re mainder of the ASUN request, making the total ASUN allocation $38,102. After approving the rest of the appeals before the committee, Yapp moved to re consider the ASUN allocation. After further discussion of salaries, the com mittee overturned its earlier' allocation to ASUN and gave the requested amount of $39,502. After discussion of Daily Nebraskan staff parties and salaries, Yapp moved to allocate $37,000 to the Daily Nebraskan with the stipulation that no fee money was to be used for food or staff parties. This represented a $2,241 cut from the Daily Nebraskan i original request. Gramittee 'member! After making their final allocations, Brenner moved that the committee recon sider the $1.50 facility fee the committee had earlier passed for the Recreation Department. Committee member Denise Schlake , moved to rescind the fee, stating she would fIike to see definite plans the department has for using the $180,000 surplus in the fee account. Schlake's motion passed by a 7-2 vote. Stephen Blom of the health center pre . sented a report showing how the center had cut its projected deficit by $74,721 through program cuts and special service fees. A $90329 deficit still resulted for the center if their tentative allocation was not increased, according to the Teport. Yap moved to allocate the health center $90,329 over their allocation last year in order to cover this deficit . Yapp's motion to allocate a total of $1,267,579 to the center passed by a 10-0 vote. After earlier motions to allocate the Cultural Affairs Committee $17,500, $30,000 and $22,500 had failed, the committee finally approved a $20,000 allocation to Cultural Affairs. The $20,000 allocation is an increase of $5,000 over the amount earlier suggested for Cultural Affairs. The committee also increased the alloca tion to the Nebraska Union to the original ly requested amount of $600,000 from the earlier allocation of $575j000' John Kreuscher, Union Board President, said the Unions, had already budgeted a $54,628 deficit with the $600 JOOO request, so the committee voted to increase the allocation from $575 J000 to the $600,000 by a vote of I to.
