Charges dismissed for YAF president ASUN has dismissed all charges against Jeff Chizek. president of Young Americans for Freedom, but will con tinue to battle YAF's appeal against probationary measures placed on them last October, according to ASUN president Ken Marienau. YAF and Chizek were found guilty of printing and distributing false or misleading statements about Jane Fonda's campus appearance last spring. They were both placed on probation for one year with possible suspension if the requirements for probation are not met. Marienau said the charges against Chizek were dropped because "they would be hard to prove in court." "1 imagine he (Chizek) is pretty happy about that," he said. However, Marienau said ASUN would continue to keep pressing the charges against YAF which is appealing the Student Court decision. Marienau said that the Council on Student Life will re view the appeal at their meeting tonight and will decide how to handle the case. Marienau also announced the visit of Frank Viggiano of the United States Student Association scheduled for Tuesday. Marienau said Viggiano's visit is in connection with a Midwest tour of all state universities. ASUN plans to schedule workshops with Viggiano, the senators and key administrators, he said. "He is in a very influential position. This may be one of the most significant things we've done all year," ac cording to Government liaison Committee chairman Bob Gleason. Marienau also presented the 1979-1980 ASUN bud get to the senate which calls for a $4,000 increase. "The increase is in the communications area, and it is badly needed," he said. If the rough draft is finalized by the Union Board and the committee on fees allocation, who also has authority to review the budget, the board will be asking for approxi mately $600,000 for 1979-80 operations. According to Union Board member John Kreuscher, $600,000 is not an increase over last year's request. The budget, after being reviewed by the Union Board and CFA, must receive approval from Vice Chancellor Richard Armstrong, Chancellor Roy Young and the regents. The board placed the budget with the finance com mittee for initial review. The board will formally review the budget after it passes through the finance committee. Union Board President Mark Knobel confirmed that Vice Chancellor Armstrong has contracted a firm, Selection Research Incorporated, to interview UNL stu dents and faculty to find what the faculty and students feel are the union's needs. Union Board Vice President Vance Colling said that the firm was being hired for approximately $10,000 to do the research. According to Knobel the firm will question approxi mately 900 people. Knobel added that the time of the in terviews has not been determined. The Executive Food Service Manager Search Com mittee has narrowed the manager selection to Larry Brandt, a professional in food services who will be called in to be interviewed. Knobel appointed Dan Ripa, Dr. Constance Kies, and himself to be a part of the interview ing committee. y nebraslian WimmsI BBirth Defects Jf!
