However, when a well-meaning, but uninformed relative gives a size eight to a size twelve body, it's probably time for a trip to the store to return the item. A Brandeis employee said the store will give either a cash refund, exchange the item for one of the same price, or allow the purchase price to be applied to a more expensive item. "We're very easy on our return policy. We request a sales receipt, but we'll sometimes allow a return without a receipt, especially for our charge customers," she said. consumer byline She said while the store does give cash refunds, "We usually try to suggest another item instead." Occasionally people will try to return stolen items, the employee said. "It's a problem everywhere. Two-part tickets "If there are a lot of returns made by one person, they would be questioned by the cash office," she said. Every item sold in the store has a ticket with two parts, she said. When an item is sold , one part of the ticket is torn off by the sales clerk, she said. Max Miller Cameras also requires a sales receipt on returned items, an employee said. Also, the item "has to have been bought recently. If everything's intact, instruc tions and things like that, we'll take it back," she said. She said most customers want a cash refund. "We'll give them cash, or if they've got a charge account, we'll credit their account." Stolen items are not a problem because the store requires a sales receipt for all returns, she said. "It's not like a person could steal something from someone, and then find a receipt somewhere." This is the last Consumer Byline for this semester.
