monday, december 11, 1978 daily nebraskan page 9 Orange Bowl trip planned by singers As the Christmas season approaches many students are planning to spend their vacation in warmer weather-like in Miami, Fla. The Scarlet and Cream Singers are among the many UNL students traveling to the Orange Bowl. But it won't be just a pleasure trip for the singers-who are currently raising money to fund their Miami appearance. The group will perform at a pep rally on Dec. 30 and will also do a New Years' Eve show at the Diplomat, Ne braska's headquarters, according to Barb Hengen, UNL coordinator of Scarlet and Cream performances. When the singers return to Lincoln they will be the featured entertainment at the Governor's Inauguration on Jan. 4 at Pershing, Hengen said. To prepare for their performances the group is practic ing through finals week and will return to Lincoln the day after Christmas to continue rehearsing. The Miami selections will include much of the same repertoire that they have been using this year but they will also perform the UNL Fight Song a little more than usual, said Hengen. The University of Nebraska Foundation and the Alumni Association are providing some of the funds for the trip and various businessmen are making contri butions. "In addition, each one of the singers will pay $100 to go to Miami," she said. "And the group is selling Orange Bowl buttons to raise money." The cost of the buttons is $1 and they will be sold at a booth in the Nebraska Union and at basketball games. "The singers have worked real hard all semester and I'm really glad they will be able to go to the Orange Bowl," Hengen said. "It will be a nice reward for them to be able to perform at more glamorous places." pQOQQjJ N 11 ' aVJ G333L7 oood D-9 1 J Lincoln's Quality Adult Theater Continuous shows from 10am "97.
