Remember the time one of Santa's
antlered ungulates contracted a stomach
virus, but was cured with a shot of Pepto
Bismol from Mrs. Claus so the celestial
sleigh could proceed up and away?
You don't? Well, you won't find it
perusing Dickens.
You will find it as part of the Christmas
program to be presented Thursday, Dec.
21 , at Villa Marie, a Catholic-run school for
the mentally retarded.
Villa Marie is one of several area schools
and homes for children that is busy prepar
ing for the upcoming Christmas festivities.
At Villa Marie, three students at the
school run by the Marian Sisters combined
to pen an original play that will draw upon
all the school's 22 students for its presen
tation. "We've all had a lot of fun with this,"
said Sister Patricia, who is a teacher and
principal of the school near Waverly.
"The three stories written by our stu
dents were really quite good. We combined
them into one play and everyone here is
going to have a part in it."
The play, she said, will be for the stu
dents' parents, the faculty and for anyone
involved with the school. Each of the stu
dents, ranging in age from 7 to 18, will re
turn home with their parents to spend the
holidays, Sister Patricia added.
