Although Nebraskam still favor beer
more than any other alcoholic beverage,
residents are developing a taste for wine,
according to the executive director of the
Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.
Executive Director Terrance Micek said
consumption of wine in Nebraska was up
10.6 percent in 1976-77.
Figures for last year indicate that
Nebraskans drank 38 million gallons of
beer, compared to 1.6 million gallons of

Residents develop
a taste for wine;
beer still favorite
spirits or hard liquor.
Although figures aren't available for this
past year, in 1976, Nebraska ranked 18th
in the nation in consumption of beer.
In comparison, Nebraska ranked 38th in
the country in consumption of wine, and
31 for other liquor.
Even though Nebraska ranks high in
consumption of alcoholic beverages,
revenue from those beverages puts Neb
raska near the bottom of the list. The
ranks 46th in that area.
