The demonstration on UNL campus Friday, Dec. 1, was the first one organized by the Arab Organization in Nebraska. It was a demonstration that meant to show the World and Nebraska that all Arabs are against Camp David agreements signed be tween Carter, Begin and Sadat. guest opinion Some might wonder why is the demon stration condemning peace talks while everyone loves and works for peace. The answer is that the demonstration is against Begin's peace, Sadat's peace and U.S. government's peace, but for the peace with the free democratic Palestine for everyone. Camp David agreements completely ig nored the goals and aspirations of Arabs in general and Palestinians in particular. Why in fact it claimed it's going to provide the Palestinians (the inhabitants) a share in the autonomy in these two places, which is close to nothing for every Palestinian. It completely excluded, on purpose, the rest of the Palestinians (2.5 million scattered in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Arabian Gulf and the rest of the world.) The demonstration showed the solid arity of freedom fighters of the world against imperialism and Fascism in occup ied Palestine, in Iran, Latin America and Africa. We are in the 20th century now, are not we civilized enough to support the idea that every nation should decide its own regime, dogma and way of life. Are not we brave enough to fight the inter vention of great powers in different parts of this world . Sadat now is fighting to stay in power. The people in Egypt will not believe him anymore just like on Jan. 15, 1977 when the masses in Cairo destructed everything: cars, buildings and government offices and the traitor regime killed 200 Arabs at the time. Besides, Sadat has succeeded to segregate the Arab World in the end of 1977 when he visited Jerusalem. Now, the Arab nation is more desperate to fight Israel and the Palestinians are more bitter and more determined to liberate Palestine and to establish the "Palestinian Democrat ic Secular Republic." Not a single Arab or American president can ignore that the Palestinians are an effective power and that no peace will be there until the liberation of Palestine, Not any teirorist like Begin or the rest of the fascists in Israel can kill all Palestinians We are even 4.5 million wliile the Israelis are 3.5 million (or so they claimed) because it's not a lost cause (the Liberation of Palestine). Some will ask: why do you want our sympathy while you keep on killing Israelis? Their are 10,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israelis' jails considered ordi nary and not war prisoners. These prisoners are tortured daily and beyond any human imagination and yet the Americans don't know about tliis. Yet Carter says we are not supporting any country that stands agasinst "human rights" defending the poor Jews in Russia and not considering "Palestinians as human beings!!!" Why do Palestinians fight? Why is it im portant for them to liberate Palestine? In 1918, after the end of World War I, the British took Palestine from the Ottoman Empire and placed it under man date. In 1917, the foreign-secretary of the so-known British Empire, Belfore, made his ill-famous declaration that "the govern ment of his majesty the king promises the Jews a homeland in Palestine." Thus was the beginning of the biggest forgery opera tion in modern history. How can any per son, living or dead, promise a land to any religion that does not exist there in the first place? In 1918, with the collaboration of the British fascist army, thousands of Jews started pouring into Palestine and taking whatever they liked, land, trees, homes and houses that the Palestinians owned for centuries. Before 1918, 1.000 Jews were living in peace and harmony side-by-side with Moslems and Christians like they did in the rest of the Arab world. After 1918, hatred started to arise. Arabs started hating Jews because locals hate immigrants. Also, if they were immi grants only, no one will hate anyone, but they came to Palestine to establish a state for Jews only. Arabs hated their plans, though some Arabs and Jews were friends and they used to marry each other even . Arabs hated the British, because they were crucifying Arabs for any reason and because they were supporting Jews and Zionists to establish an exclusive fascist state in Palestine. The Arabs made a lot of revolts and uprisings, though the British were killing hundreds of us each time. In 1936, the the Palestinians made the famous six month "general strike," or civil disobed ience, as it is known sometimes, where no shop and no factory was open, and where people were staying in homes most of the time. This strike ended with the interven tion of kings of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, and these traitors gave Palestinians the promise that if they stop the strike, the British Mandate Authorities will give them independence. They have stopped, but they knew there will be no more prom ises that they will accept after that. In 1939, the second world war erupted. All nations on earth were engaged more or less with the war. British were bringing Indian and Australian batallions to the area. Afterwards, Palestinians were helping and taking care of the Polish kids and in fants whose families were killed by the fas cist Hitler. During all this time, Jews and Zionists were still puring in thousands to Palestine and after World War II, they became 15 percent of the population. There is a point here. Hitler did not only kill and incinerate the Jews, but Greeks, Polish, French, Belgians and Russians. But the Jews made a big fuss about it. True, Hitler was a killer and we don't support his massacre of Jews, but we are not responsible for what he did. From the Zionist point of view, that was not the case and the revenge was taken from Arabs by massacres and attrocities committed by most the ruling class of Israel, now espec ially the killer Begin. He killed 220 old men, women and children by stabbing them to death and then throwing them in the well of the village (Dier Yassin) in 1948. After the Israelis got enough armament from the Europeans, especially the British and the Americans, the British suddenly pulled out from Palestine. Ben Guorion declared the establishment of Israel May 15, 1948. Palestinian Arabs started their big flee for life after that. Two million Palestinians were running from death to all directions. They thought the Arab armies would return them to their homes after a week. But. . . again, they did not and no one did, though they've tried to go back where they belong but to no avail. Israeli soldiers were imprisoning at least for life or killing anyone who dares to do so. The myth of Palestine and Palestinian Arabs started then. They have entered into a long-lived armed struggle to liberate their lands. This cause and their right is un questionable and no one is to deny it. pa a tft mite rr jfsi - if mi or wr c-m m m m jJ; - Helps you Start the Week Gut Right !
