friday, november 17, 1978 daily nebraskan page 7 Revamping options discussed by CSL By Kim Wilt Five alternatives were discussed for the restructuring of the Council on Student Life (CSL) at their meeting Thursday night. ASUN had recalled all student members on university committees including, CSL members. But, ASUN reinstated CSL until December 31, to give them time to discuss restructuring proposals. The proposals include: a "supergroup," suggested by ASUN President Ken Marienau, which would act as an advisory body to the chancellor, on university concerns. The members of the supergroup would include Chancellor Roy Young, three vice chancellors, four Faculty Senate executive committee members, and four ASUN executive committee members. Also, the ASUN executive committee would meet with the chancellor on a regular basis, as does the Chancellor's Council, and the Faculty Senate executive committee. The ASUN executive committee would have an open forum function. A second proposal was the same as Marienau's, except that the "supergroup" would meet on a regular basis. CSL student member Jay Yost would have the "super group" proposed by Marienau be similar to CSL-com-posed of faculty, students, and administrators, but with out the chancellor on it. Yost suggested that the group be called the Council on Campus Life (CCL). He said that CCL would not have judicial powers, but would have recommending powers to the chancellor, as well as the Chancellor's Council, the Faculty Senate executive committee, and the ASUN. executive commit tee. CCL would meet regularly, and would have an open forum function, as would the ASUN executive committee, under this proposal. A fourth proposal would have CCL meeting on call from the chancellor, but not on a regular basis. The final proposal, made by CSL Chairman John Benson, would have the Chancellor's Council, the Faculty Senate executive committee, and the ASUN executive committee meet together on call from the chancellor, as well as CCL meeting regularly.
