search party, the Campus Red Cross and Assistance
Team may be the group to contact.
UNL student John Courtright started the program
in October 1977.
Courtright said he worked in a Search and Rescue
Group in New Mexico, on which most of the UNL format
is based. However, they receive their supplies and super
vision from the American Red Cross.

missing persons," Courtright said.
In the past, the Campus Red Cross and Assistance
Team has cleaned up after fires and responded to emer
gency calls. They respond to red codes; emergency, blue
codes; missing person, and yellow codes; fire clean up.
The ten-member team, is located on East Campus in
Burr Hall, Courtright said.
"We are not replacing the Health Aides (in the resid
ence halls), we're here to help them out in situations in
which they are not fully equipped to handle,"
The team has its own equipment including blankets
and splints, which, he said, is more than what the Health
Aides have. J
"Dr. Armstrong, vice chancellor of affairs, is in full
support of our program," Courtright said. "We are still
new and trying to become recognized as a valid team is
important to us.
"Any willing person is allowed to be on the team, it's
completely volunteer."
