monday, november6, 1978 daily nebraskan page 3 Hubbard returns for speech William Neill Hubbard Jr., M.D., president of the Upjohn Co., will deliver the second annual Reuben Gil bert Gustavson Memorial Lecture at 3:30 pjn., Thursday, Nov. 9 at UNL. The Gustavson Lectures were established in recogni tion of Dr. Gustavson 's con tributions to education and research. Sponsored by Re sources for the Future, Inc., of Washington, D.C., and four universities he served, the lectures will be given an nually for IS years at the University of Arizona, the University of Chicago, the University of Colorado, and UNL. Gustavson was chancellor of the University of Nebras ka from 1946-53. The subject of the lec ture by Hubbard, prepared for a general audience and open to the public, will be "The Relation of Science to the North South Dialogue." It will deal with popula tion, food, and political problems facing North and South America in the years ahead. Hubbard was dean of the University of Michigan Medical School from 1959 68 and served as director of the University of Michi gan Medical Center from 1968-70. He was previously, from 1950-59, a member of the faculty at New York University College of Medi cine. He became a member of the board of directors for the Upjohn Co. in 1968. He was named vice presi dent and general manager of the Pharmaceutical Division in April, 1970, and in 1972 became executive vice presi dent of the firm. He was ap pointed president of the Upjohn Co. in April, 1974.
