David DeCoster, UNL dean of students, when con tacted about the ASUN action, said he felt hopeful that a more effective system ultimately would be created. "I don't think we should be troubled about this," he said. DeCoster said that while the student decision-making process certainly is important, it is equally important that students feel good about their involvement with various committees. Marienau said he hopes to have an alternative proposal prepared within two or three weeks but he said the current system had not been damaged. "We have not destroyed the structure, we have put it on hold," Marienau said. However, Marienau said, student voice in specific areas may have to be sacrificed, because ASUN concen trates on issues of general interest. Marienau did not specify any ideas for the new struc ture.
