The service, which provide students with information about apartments, was the result of recommendations made by NUPIRG after a study, financed by a $1 000 ASUNNUPIRG contract, was made. The original bill brought before the Senate two weeks ago included the financing of a Tenant Guide booklet to be distributed by the service, but an amendment to that bill excluded the booklet from ASUN financing. CBA center works or small business f A new small business center in the UNL College of Business Administration is designed to help students start businesses, according to Robert Justis, associate professor of management. The center, at 201 CBA, is financed by a $30,000 grant from the Nebraska Legislature. The grant was the result of a request made in spring, 1977, by Bill Jackson, a former UNL business major. In the spring of 1977, Jackson asked the Legislature for funds to establish a small business management course at UNL. The course began last fall and continues with Justis the director of the small business center, as its instructor. "It will take about a semester to get it running the way we want it to," Justis said. The center will include manuals for small businesses, Bank of America literature, Small Business Administration handouts and other reference materials. The center also will include a computer terminal which, Justis said, will provide financial information such as income and cash flow statements and balance sheets. He said he hopes to develop workshops and seminars to increase the center's effect on the state. UNO, Chadron and Kearney State also have small business centers. "I hope to work together (with the centers) and compliment each other to improve the small businesscomrr Justis said he will encourage the students in his business courses to use the center. The center is open to all students as well as area businessmen. Senator Bob Gleason, who sponsored the amendment, said that much of it was 'wrong, ambiguous, and over generalized." He said he wanted to avoid a "possible misleading interpretation of the law." His "intention was not to kill the tenant guide," he said, "but to send it back." Sammie Grier, who represented NUPIRG at the Senate meeting said, "Senator Gleason is correct. We would like to rewrite it." But she added that she thought the tenant guide was a service that was needed now since NUPIRG did not give out legal advice. After the amendment was approved by the senate and the amended bill passed, Grier said, "The service will go on." "There's a lot more to this service than exists in this tenant guide," Gleason said. Grier said, the booklet will be rewritten and presented to the senate again. "Well work closely with Bob Lange (Student Legal Services attorney)," she said.
