elopement turned into a zany car
chase as they are pursued by a motley
collection of fortune hunters in the
1977 comedy 'Grand Theft Auto,'
starring, co-scripted and directed by

broadcast as a special CBS-TV movie
presentation on Friday, Sept. 15.
Paula Powers (Nancy Morgan) and
Sam Freeman (Howard, pictured) are
in love but Paula's millionaire father
(Barry Cahill) couldn't care less. He
figures that his political aspirations
would be better served if his daughter
married handpicked suitor Collins
Hedgeworth (Paul Linke), a socially
well-connected drip.
Taking matters into their own
hands, Sam and Paula "borrow" her
father's Rolls-Royce and head for Las
Vegas and marriage. Collins sets out
after them.
Then, when Powers offers a reward
for his daughter's return and Mrs.
Hedgeworth (Miss Ross) follows suit,
a varied crew of bounty hunters joins
the pursuit. The whole gang meets in
a giant arena, just as a demolition
derby is about to begin.
Conspiracy' Tony Baretta is
unhappy about being loaned out
to the vice squad, especially
when he discovers his partner is

Kong,' the spectacular drama which

colorcast in two parts on 'NBC
Saturday Night at the Movies' Sept. 16
and on 'The Big Event' Sunday, Sept.
The television version will feature
additional footage not included in the
theatrical presentation.
Inspired by the 1933 classic about
a great ape and his love for a beautiful
young woman, the 1976 film focuses
on .a relationship that ultimately pits
the primitive but awesome beast
against modern technology, leading to
a climactic confrontation atop a New
York skyscraper.
A fog-shrouded island in Micronesia
is the destination of an expedition
headed by Fred Wilson (Charles
Grodin) of the Petrox Oil Company.
After they are at sea. the crew
discovers Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges),
a zoologist who has stowed away, and
they suspect a unique discovery on the
island. While at sea. they come across
a lifeboat with Dwan (Jessica Lange),
an aspiring actress who has survived
a shipboard
