Alcohol clearinghouse established
The establishment of a state-wide rlMrinohonea

handle alcohol information has been announced.
The clearinghouse is funded in part by the Division of
Alcoholism of the Department of Public Institutions and
located in the Health Education Department, UNL. It will
serve as the main coordinating agency for the creation,
distribution and dissemination of alcohol information and
educational materials in the state.
Dr Ian Newman, the clearinghouse's director and
chairman of the Health Education Department said that
NAIC will supply alcohol information materials and will
evaluate existing materials and develop new materials.
Newman said the clearinghouse's major function will be
to disseminate new and newly available information on
alcoholism to all human service agencies in the state.
The location of the clearinghouse at UNL will enable
it to better provide services to large numbers of human
service agencies dealing with alcoholism and alcohol
UNL trades lots
with Greek house
Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, 425 University Terrace,
and UNL have traded lots. Parking lots, that is.
According to chapter advisor Bob Richeson, TKE
exchanged a lot they owned at 1805 R. St. for one the
university owned at 1641 R St.
In the agreement, TKE demolished an old house that
had been located on the lot at 1805 R St., Richeson said.
TKE wanted the university lot because it bordered a
lot they owned at 1637 R St., and now use as an annex for
their house, he said.
The two lots eventually will be used to build a new
house, Richeson said.
"We want to draw up plans for the house sometime
this year," Richeson said. "And we hope construction can
begin within the next two years."
TKE will temporarily use the lot for parking, he said.
LTS buses provide
State Fair service
Lincoln Transportation System buses will provide daily
service between downtown Lincoln and the State Fair
grounds for the State Fair Sept. 1 through Sept. 10.
Buses will leave 1 1th and N Streets every half-hour
between 9:15 ajn. to 10:15 p.m. for the fairgrounds.
Return to service to downtown Lincoln will operate every
half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. or at the end of
the evening shows.
Regular LTS fares will apply to the fairgrounds service
and transfers to and from the State Fair route will be
honored.
Buses operating to the fairgrounds will use the regular
downtown loop, running on 11th, J and 14th Streets
before following 14th and R Street and then operating
via 17th Street to the Fairgrounds Sports Complex's
bus stop. Buses will not run Sept. 3 or Sept. 4.
