About 400 country-western music fans gathered
Sunday for the final day of pickin', grinnin', strummin'
and wailin' at the Nebraska State Country Music Festival
in Springfield, Ne.
Competition included country-western combos, indi
vidual and group singers, electric and flat-top guitar and
banjo pickers, and fiddlers. While the competition carried
on through the day individuals gathered in the shade to
warm up their fingers, chew the fat and to sip a few
beers.
Sponsored by the Cornhusker Country Music Club of
Louisville Ne., the competition lasted three days, June
23-25. Governor J. James Exon proclaimed the second
week of June as Country Music Week in conjunction with
the annual event.
