A family of four lives best
in Austin, worse in Boston
Washington - Dollar for dollar, a family
of four lives the best in Austin, Texas,
among 40 U.S. metropolitan areas surveyed
by the government.
On the other hand, New York and Bos
ton are about the worse places for the eco
nomically minded, the Labor Department
says.

In its annual report on urban family
budgets, the department said Wednesday
that an average urban family of four must
earn $10,481 a year to maintain a low stan
dard of living, 17,106 for a middle stan
dard of living and $25,202 to enjoy a high
standard.
The San Francisco-Oakland area is the
most expensive area for a family to main
tain a low standard of living, requiring an
annual income of $1 1 ,601 a year.
Living costs in Alaska and Hawaii are
much higher than elsewhere in the country,
but they are not comparable because of
unique transportation costs that drive up
the prices of goods.
'Antimatter discovered
Washington - Scientists have evidence
that a surprising amount of "antimatter"
may exist in the center of our Milky Way
galaxy, which they say could furnish im
portant clues about the formation of the
universe.
Physicists said Wednesday that a detec
tor hoisted 130,000 feet aloft by a balloon
picked up evidence of increased antimat-
YAF files petition
for a continuance
The UNL chapter of the Young Americans for Free
dom has filed a petition with the Student Court for a con
tinuance in the suit brought against them by ASUN.
The petition was filed late Thursday afternoon by UNL
president Jeff Chizek and YAF legal counsel for the suit,
Randall Jauken.'
The petition asks for more time in order for the defen
dants (YAF) to adequately prepare for the trial.
The preparation would include research and study of
the law and regulations involved in the trial, the location
of witnesses to testify and YAF meetings to determine
their course of action.
The petition also states that the large amount of publi
city surrounding the case has made it "impossible for
these defendants to receive a fair trial because the citizens
of this jurisdiction are biased and prejudiced against these
defendants."
The petition also states that the general public has
formed an opinion that the defendants are guilty due to
the publicity and the defendants would be unable to get a
fair trial.
The petition states "to make them (YAF) stand trial at
this time in this district would deprive them of life and
liberty without due process of law in contravention of the
Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution and
would deprive them of their right to a fair and impartial
trial in contravention of the Six Amendment to the
United States Constitution."

of Melbourne and, with the help of a local

James NeUl, a shepherd who was speared
to death by native aboriginals on a nearby
sheep ranch on May 2, 1839.

he paid the reward last Thursday but did
not deliver it so could not say who received
it. Hart was arrested at a shack April 6 by
