thursday, april 27, 1978 daily nebraskan page 15 Burke throws By Jim Freshman Tim Burke pitched a two-hitter in the first game of a double-header to help lead the Huskers to a sweep of Wayne State College at the UNL diamond, Wed nesday. UNL took a 4-3 decision in the opener and completed the sweep with an 11-2 win in the second game. Burke gave up one hit in the first inning and did not allow another Wayne hit until Curt Lewis singled in the seventh. Burke set down 15 straight WSC batters from the second through the sixth inning. The Huskers picked up one run in the first when short stop John Russo walked, stole second and third bases and scored on a throwing error. UNL scored two more runs in the third on Joe Scherger's two-run home run. The Cornhuskers scored their last run in the fifth inning on back-to-back doubles by Val Primante and Pete O'Brien. Wayne State, now 8-8, scored all three runs in the seventh on three walks by Burke, an error by Primante and the single by Lewis. want ads Rates: Regular classified ad 10 centswdday $1 minday individual & student ads $2 minday - commer cial ads Classified Display $3col. inch Deadline 1 p.m. day before pub lication No refunds on pre-paid ads. He threw one in a 12-2, five inning game against Dana College last Wednesday. Burke also has recorded a no-hitter against Austin College this season. "I felt real good today," Burke said. "I made a few mechanical changes in my delivery and it has made a 100 percent difference. "I've brought my knee closer to my body. It's a more compact delivery and it's a lot easier on the body." Burke is now 4-1 on the season. Sophomore pitcher Jim Larkin pushed his record to 3-0 by picking up the win for the Huskers in the second game. Larkin 's effort was aided by one run in the first inning, three in the second inning, five runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning. The second game was highlighted by Scherger's 420 foot home run, his ninth of the season. The home run put him just one short of the school record of 10 held by Bob Cerv and Don Brown. "The home runs we've been getting have been on line drives," Scherger said. "That's a good sign." Ventura 12 String wcase $75. Hexel 210cm Ski's wbindings, Hursclting 914 Ski Boots never worn.
