Both the men's and women's UNL
rodeo teams rode to second-place finishes
at the University of Nebraska School of
Technical Agriculture rodeo in Curtis April
15 and 16.
The women's team was lead by Whit
man freshman Char Applegarth, who
placed first in breakaway roping and goat
tying. Her performance gained her the
women's all-round title in the one-round
rodeo.
Another Unversity of Nebraska Rodeo
Association cowgirl, Lincoln, junior Karen
Unterseher, tied for second in barrel racing.
Merriman senior Barry Johnson moved
into second place in Great Plains Region
bareback bronc riding competition when
he won the even at Curtis. South Dakota
State University's Arlo Provost is first in
the region and leading Johnson by four
points.
Cody freshman James Marshall tied for
second in bareback bronc riding.
Placing second in steer wrestling was
Springview junior Rick Lien. Atkinson
freshman Pete Home placed third in the
event.
Kilgore sophomore Bill Peterson placed
third in calf roping.
Johnson and Whitman senior Andy Ap
plegarth combined to take third place jn
team roping, followed by Kilgore sopho
more Mike Peterson and Colorado Springs
junior Bryan Dodge, who took fourth in
the event.
Dodge also competed in bull riding,
where he tied for sixth place.
The UNL teams will compete again
April 22 and 23 at a rodeo sponsored by
the National College of Business in Rapid
City, S.D.
