Defending Big Eight Champion UNLtied with Oklaho
ma in last weekend's women's Big Eight tennis tourna
ment. Oklahoma won the last match of the tournament to tie
UNL at 60 points.
Singles champions for UNL were Sue Sloboth, Vicki
Maseman and Dee Pavelka, while Patti Briant and Molly
Matthews won a doubles championship.
UNL's freshman crew team won two races against
Creighton University Saturday at Carter Lake. UNL will
host Wichita State Saturday at 4 p. m. at Branched Oak
Lake.
UNL's women's track team finished in second place
with 117 points behind first-place finisher Iowa State's

weekend.
Cindy Dixon set school records and qualified for
nationals in the 800- and 1 500-meter runs. Dixon finished
third in both events.
Nancy Kindig won the pentathlon and qualified for na
tionals in that event while teammate Donna Fox qualified
for nationals in the 1 500-meter run finishing fourth.

UNL's men's golf team won a four-team meet at Law
rence, Kansas Saturday. UNL posted a team score of 448
followed by Missouri's 459 score, Kansas' 467, and Kan
sas State's 479.
Larry Sock shot aJ27-hole score of 109 while Doug
Smith shot a 111, Steve Statton and Rick Reynolds shot
114, and Know Jones shot a 120 for UNL.
