But he expressed confidence that enough funds could be raised this way. "I'm not all that negative about our ability to attract top-flight speakers," he said. It's up to the students. Well find out how much fee speakers mean to the students. Are they (students) really willing to stand up and be counted when they have a clear choice? Eicher said she is pessimistic about voluntary support of the speakers program. "We might get funds, but I don't -think well get enough funds to run the program properly," she said. One of her biggest concerns, she said is that program ming is being cut without reduction of mandatory stu dent fees. warn i CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING Rates: Regular classified ad 10 centswdday $1 minday individual & student ads $2 minday - commer cial ads Classified Display $3col. inch Deadline 1 p.m. day before pub lication IMo refunds on pre-paid ads. If fees remain the same, inflation would probably consume the amount saved by cutting the speakers programs, he said. A check-a-box method of support possibly would be combined with admission charges to pay for speakers, he said. 'There's just so many ideas that we haven't explored because up until now, we haven't been forced to," he explained. "I suspect the first year will be more diffi cult." There will be fewer difficulties after students and ad ministrators gain experience, he said. After a speaker is defined, he said, it will be necessary to judge the amount students would pay and the amount to charge for admission. The amount to be volunteered by each student must be large enough to cover costs, but not so large that students would be discouraged from contributing, he said. 2 bedroom apartment $165, utilities paid. 435-3402 or 475 7305. 1948 Q St. Efficiency with air, appliances, bed, carpet, drapes, garage.
