AUF drive collects record amount
Take a card game. Add a walk-a-thon and the sale of
dining coupon booklets. Multiply by other fund-raising
activities and the answer is $14,91 1 , the amount collected
in the fall drive for All University Fund (AU1).
This figure is the most ever collected for AUF
according to Susan Norby, AUF first vice president.
Norby said the money goes to the Lung Association,
the Kidney Inundation, the Nebraska Home for Children!
an oprhanage and a home for low-income children!
To determine how the money is used, ballots are
distributed to fraternities, sororities and residence halls,
she said. The three with the most votes receive money!
Norby explained.
The biggest money-maker this year was a 72-hour
card-a-thon sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi sorority and

Alpha (iamma Sigma fraternity. Norby said $2,290 was
collected during the game.
Residence halls sponsored a fall fast where each stu
dent volunteered to give up one meal and donate that
money to AUK $1,900 was collected, and Burr-Fedde
residence halls had the highest proportion of people to
participate.
The sorority which contributed the most was Gamma
hi Beta, Norby said. They participated in a 10-mile
walk-a-thon with Pi Beta Phi Sorority and raised $1,094.
Sigma Phi Kpsilon collected $1,107 to top the list of
fraternity contributors, according to Norby. This money
was gained through the sale of wine and dine coupon
booklets, which cost $2 each.
