Hayakawa: scrap energy plan

California Sen, Samuel I. Hayakawa said
Friday the "forces, of the; marketplace are
capable of solving energy problems and
that a federal energy program is; not ne
cessary. Hayakawa appeared in Lincoln at the
request of Sen. Carl Curtis wha endorsed
Vance Rogers gubernatorial candidacy
Friday.
The Senate "loused up President

fund-raising dinner for Rogers a Repub

He won his Senate seat with a victory
over an incumbent Democrat w 1976,
Hayakawa said he is "delighted to sup
port the Rogers candidacy who, like him
self, is a "reformed college president."1
At the news conference Hayakawa also
criticized a federal court decision that
limited the size of farms getting water from
federally financed irrigation projects to
160 acres.
In that decision the court showed hos
tility toward bigness in farming,, Hayakawa
said. Good,, efficient farms grow larger than
160 acres he said He, also said the return
of the crown of St. Stephen to Hungary
angers him The crown, and sceptre were
captured by the US in World War I

Hayakawa told the audience at the din
ner that teenagers are being discriminated
against by minimum wage laws
He also cited Athenian medieval his
tory to say that businessmen are the true
social revolutionaries,
"We will get to a classless, society faster
than the Soviet Union Hayakawa said
