monday, november 14, 1977 Soviet VPs to visit city two days Three mayors from the Soviet Union will visit Lin coln Tuesday and Wednes day as part of a tour set up by the U.S. State Depart ment through the U.S. Con ference of Mayors. Vladimir Alexandrovich Gusev, chairman of the Soviet Executive Committee and deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukraine; Elk han Beyukorgyl Kerimov, member of the Soviet Exec utive Committee of Baku; and Maria Vasil-Yevna Krivenko, chairman of Soviet Executive Committee of Kashira will be given a "bird's eye view" of Lin coln, according to Mayor Helen Boosalis. Boosalis will meet the three mayors and their in terpreter Vladimir Lesnyak Tuesday at the Lincoln Mu nicipal Airport. A series of brief tours will follow. After hearing an explana tion of Lincoln's city government, Boosalis said, the group will visit several sights, including American Stores, subsidized housing for senior citizens, the sew age treatment plant and UNL Tractor-Testing La boratory on East Campus. These are some of the things Boosalis said she would like to have seen when she visited the Soviet Union about this time last year. A small informal supper at Albin Andersen's home will conclude the day of activities. Andersen is a UNL history professor. About 25 to 30 persons representing a broad cross section of the community will be present, Boosalis said. Guests will include state and county govern ment representatives, as well as labor and businessmen. The Russian delegates will leave Lincoln Wednes day morning.
