Qay Statmore has lived more than one-fourth of his
life on 1 1 th floor Abel Hall.
He has lived through four rooms, ten semesters and six
roommates.
Statmore. 22, is a second-year law student. This is his
sixth year in Abel Hall, and he says he plans to stay there
until he graduates in May of 1979.
"I don't hang out anywhere else, I hang out here,
Statmore said. "All my friends live here so if I visit some
one it's usually only a couple of doors away."
When he came to UNL from Clifton, New Jersey, he
felt like an outsider, Statmore said. But since then, he
says , he has made some good friends and has never con
sidered moving.
Apartment living is out because of the cooking and
inconvenience, he said. "I'm a good cook, but it takes too
much time," Statmore said.
He said he chose the residence hall because he likes
to have people around, but added that he doesn't need the
"contrived brotherhood of a Greek House" "We have
M.I.I, ....l.,.. .H....-. MiBHjgJ
it (brotherhood) right here, he said.
Statmore said it is important to have a good room
mate in a residence hall. If you don't you have a bad
opinion .of dorm life, he said.
Statmore said he likes the corner room he has had for
three years.
"But I can't stand the food at Abel Hall, Statmore
said. "I didn't eat here once last year." He said he eats
almost every meal at the East Union, where residence hall
meal tickets are accepted.
The elevators at Abel are Statmore's "Pet Peeve,"
and he said he thinks the whole system needs revamping.
He said recently 18 people were trapped in an elevator.
When the firemen came to rescue them, their elevator
stopped too. '
What about the residence hallhours and the noise with
80 men on the one floor?
"You learn to work around the security guards "
Statmore said. "The people who live by me soon learn
to keep their doors shut. when playing tneir stereo.
