Senior goes to top to establish business course
; When you want to take a class that's not offered
at UNL and can't wait for the red tape to be cleared, you
may do what one student did-go-straight to the top.
s Last spring Bill Jackson, a UNL business senior from
La Jolla, Calif., requested $24,500 from the Nebraska
Legislature to ; establish . a ; small business
management course in the College of Business Adminis

? The result $30,000 was allotted for the course in the
1977-78 NU budget. Things are moving now.
Besides teaching a small business management course
second semester, Robert T. Justis was hired to supervise
the development and administration . of UNL's Small
Business Institute (SBI).
. , Justis, 33, received a Ph. D. in business administration,
with a major in organizational behavior and management,
from Indiana University in 1972. ,
He was director of a SBI program at Texas Tech
University for about five years before ne accepted the
offer to come to UNL.
According to Sang M. Lee, Management Dept. chair

said eventually he hopes the program will .be self-supporting.
' ,
This year, the department is trying to get an active
program started, Lee said. The course format includes

bU Justis arrived in Lincoln about two weeks ago and has
been meeting people and attending meetings ever since.
Justis said, he hopes to start a center for small business
men to come to for advice, a research center and a
program center for anyone interested setting up a cer

He estimated it will take about three years to get
the program started and functioning smoothly? and about
five to six years to develop it fully.
