Lincoln for a 3 p.m. doul!:h:2d:r at the Husker dia
mond. The Iloskers, coached by Tony Ehaipe, have won five
straight pn:es and have won 10 of their last 11. Overall
their record is 1 1-4.
Ve had an easier schedule down there this time and
the early wins helped m with our confidence," Sharpe

Morningsidc also took a trip to Texas in the first week
of March, Sharpe said. ,
Probable pitchers for the Huskers ' against Moming,
side will be junior Steve Nagal (0-1) in the first game and
sophomore Jeff Costcllo (2-1) in the nightcap.
Saturday afternoon former UNL assistant baseball
coach Bob Gates returns as head coach for UNO.
The Mavericks, a young team according to Gates, are
10-2 for the season going into a doublehcader today with
Dana College.
"We're a young bunch, one senior .and two juniors, and
we have a lot to work on, Gates said. TheyVe out there
hustling and they're beginning to believe they can win
every time they take the field."
Gates said players to watch on the UNO team are
catcher. Bob Wood worth and shortstop Rich Sagfte.
Woodwccth is batting 385 this season and "hits with
some power, Gates said . Sagfte is hitting at .400.
Speed
' "We also like to use our speed on the.bascpaths,'
Gates said. We like to take the extra base or put the hit-and-run
on to pressure the defense in the right situation."
On the mound for UNO for the twinbill will be Mike
Metz (2-1) arid Jim Kantor (2-0), Gates said.
Pitching for the Huskers will be freshman Cliff Faust
(2-1) in the first game. Sharpe said he has not decided
who he will start in the second game.
Included in the Husker line-up is leftfielder Joe
Schcrgcr. Scherger leads the team with four home runs,
17 runs batted in and a .41 7 batting average.
, Also in the starting nine will be senior Paul Haas in
centerfield. ,
Haas, who did not play on the Texas road trip, raised
his average from .245 to .466 in the Wayne State twin
bill. .
