It has been 14 years since Oklahoma Stste University
(OSU; has beaten UNL in football. Today, the Cowboys
may pose their best threat to end the streak in those years.
OSU has played the H uskers closer than anybody since
Tom Osborne took over the UNL coaching duties. Last
year in Stillwater, the Huskers escqsed 23-20. while the
year before in Lincoln the Huskers won a defensive strug
gle 7-3. In Osborne's first season, OSU forged a 17-17
deadlock. '". ' -
" The Cowboys finished 7-4 last year and are off to a 5-2
start this season. They are tied for the Big 8 Conference
lead with UML'and Colorado with a 3-1 league mark.
Led by junior running back Terry Miller, OSU comes
into today's game with a two gsrne winning streak with an
upset over arch-rival Oklahoma 31-24 two weeks ago. Last
week they nipped Missouri 20-19.
Wilier was instrumental in both victories. He rushed for
153 yards against the Sooners and for 223 years against
Missouri. :
He leads the Sij 8" in rushing with E32 ysrds and OSU
defensive coordinator Gene Henderson praises him highly.
Terry's a great running back. Maybe the best in the
country." Henderson said.
Another Junior, Skip Taylor, haspk&ed up 1 S3 yards in
the last two games. He joins filler n the OSU backfield.
Senior Charlie VJeatherbie is quarterback.

OSU offensive line coach Wayne L!cDuffee calls the
2S0 lbs. senior "the best center I've every seen. I can hon
estly say when we moved Derrel to center (from guard) it
settled our complete scheme of blocking.
One of OSU's strong points may be its kicking same.
Senior punter Cliff Parsley is trying for his fourth straight
conference punting title This year. He is the first to win
three consecutive titles and is averaging 44 yards a kick
this year. r' - .',:'.. -
OSU head coach Jim Stnaley said he is pleased with
Parsley's hang-time on his kicks. - ,
"He keeps the bail in the air between 4.8 and 5.0
seconds, he said. ! think he's the best punter in the
, country.
, -Senior Abby Oaigle is the Cowboy place kicker. Out
." most of the 75 sesson with arrinjured leg, Oaigle owns
the game, season and career field goal records at OSU.
'" Defensive tackle Phillip Ookes, an All-American can
didate, heads the Cowboy defense. The 6 ft. 5 in. senior
led OSU m tackles last year with 92 and set a school
' record of 18 svjps behind the line of scrimmage. - '
