Tacos, burritos and enchiladas will replace the
textbooks which were once sold at 1 245 R St.
Taco Inn is scheduled to open Aug. 1, according to
Roger Leising, manager and part-owner. Campus
Bookstore closed last winter, leaving the bunding vacant
for a semester.
Leising said Taco Inn wEI be a fast-food restaurant
with about 10 items on the menu. The food will be made
fresh when it is ordered, he said.
The fast-food operation will make it possible for
students to stop in between classes," Leising said, "since
customers won't have to wait very long for their food."
The new restaurant is a local corporation owned by
himself, Jim Kamos and Don Leising, Leising said. The
property was already zoned for commercial use. The
building is being leased from the Nebraska Book
Company.
replace bookstore
LeMng said it will take from $15,000 to $20,CCO to
turn the former bookstore into a restaurant. Plumbing will
be installed, the electric wiring win be re-wrapped, and
restaurant fixtures wi3 be installed, he said. Taco Inn will
seat about 1 CO persons, Leising said.
The restaurant must pass health, codes and building
inspections before it opens, he said.
Hiring of restaurant personnel w2l' begin Jury 15,
Leising said. About 1 5 positions will be available, he said,
but the cumber hired will depend on how many positions
will be part-time
Leising said a parking lot behind the restaurant may be
available in the fall, but rcht now the only customer
parking is along the city streets.
Tentative business hours are 1 0 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday
through Saturday, Leising said. Taco Inn also will be open
on Sunday, but the hours have not been determined, he
said.

Reduced budget...
continued from p. 1
An extra $45,251 was cut from the budgets, Johnson
said, to create a continguency fund for unexpected costs.
All educational and student services on the UNO
campus will feel the impact of the budget cut, said John
Moore, director of budget and operations analysis at
UNO.:;; :.'
Departments have complained that they do not get
fast, accurate financial statements, he said. They will havef
to live with this for at least another year, he added.
The money spent for office supplies and postage will
be reduced, Moore said, and students may not receive
mid-term grade reports. Money for new equipment was
cut completely from the budget, he said.
"Students and faculty will just have to wait,' Moore
said, describing the effect the cuts will have at UNO.
The physical plant operating budget was also reduced
$500,000 by the Cavanaugh amendment. UN L's share of
that cut is $313,922, Johnson said.
Among the services reduced will be snow removal, said
Miles Tommeraasen, UNL vice-chancellor of business and
finance. ' ,
If a snowfall next winter is less than three inches, it
will just lie there, he said.
Tommeraasen said that during the winter of 1974-75,
UNL spent over $90,000 on snow removal.
