Pan Ladely, director of the Sheldon Fflrn Theater, said three film series will be shown this summer: Adventures in Reality, made by the British Broadcasting Company, Summer Stars, a group of famous Hollywood movies, and Kenneth Clarke's series on artists, Pioneers of Modem Painting. Admission to the Summer Stars movies will be $1 SO, he said, and the others will be free. The first film to light the screen after this Saturday's Jean Renoir fUm will be Warhol of the Adventures in Reality series. Ladefy said the series to be shown next fall are Docu mentary Films, Shakespeare series, Filmmakers Showcase, and the Foreign Film series sponsored by the Nebraska Union Program Council. But some changes will be made, he said . Instead of spreading a series of films out across the semester, as was done with the Jean Renoir films this year, Ladely said they will be shown daily, one after the other. He said interest seemed to drop off when the films were two weeks apart . Seven fiLn programs So, A History of the American Avant -Garde Cinema, an exhibition of seven film programs, will be screened in the week beginning Aug. 31, Ladfcy said. The American Federation of Arts prepared the programs, which show 39 films by 28 independent filmmakers. Ladely said a lecturer, as yet unknown, will come to the campus as part of the program. Two independent filmmakers have been tentatively scheduled for next fall's Filmmakers Showcase series, Ladely said. Emile de Antonio, whose recent work Underground was subpoened by a grand jury in California because it deals wit h the radical underground Weathermen, will show and talk about his other six films, Ladely said. The sub poena on Underground was struck down by a higher court, he added, and the film will probably be screened the week before de Antonio arrives. Freude, a woman who operates the Serious Business film distribution company, will speak about film distribu tion, the films she has made, feminism in films, and how to view avant-garde fihns. Next fill's Foreign Film series wD be saeened on al ternate Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, Ladefy said, and a Foreign Films Chics series has been added. These wll be foreign films shown in the past that were particularly popular, Ladefy said, and will be shown Sun days and Mondays between the regular series. Single ad irrissw tickets to these Classics will cost $130, he said, but series ticket holders will be abb to pay half price. Ladefy said he also will choose "about 30" films by independent filmmakers to fill out the 1976-77 academ ic year. Independent filmmakers are those who don't work for a commercial company, he said, such as Warner Bros, or 11GM. Their works are usually shown in museum or uni versity theaters Lke Sheldon's, he said, and often are sup ported by grants. L" 1 114 Paid for by Fowler for Legislature Committee John R.
