Law team takes top trivia honors
When the bell rang, the tmoke cleared and it was all
over, the Juris Law trivia team had taken top honors
in the Thursday night final round of the second annual
Creek Week Trivia Bowl.
Juris Law beat FW Kappa Psi, second place and
Sigma Alpha EpsHon, third place.
Members of the Juris Law team were senior Law
students Sam Brower from FuIIerton, Jim Sakoman
from Omaha, John Dmario from Lincoln and E2
Schwartzkopf, team captain from Lincoln.
The law students won the final contest against Phi
Kappa Rsi 220 to 15.
Members of the Phi Kappa Psi team were Creg
Hston, political science major from Omaha, Larry
MlHiken, journalism major from Hoidrege, Gregg Shaf
fer, business major from Omaha and John Minnie, jour
nalism major from Lincoln.
Sigma Alpha EpsHon members were Eric K. Chap
man, business major from Kansas City; Terry Curtiss,
business major from Alliance; Chuck Podhaisky, jour
nalism major from Alliance and Dill Jackson, business
major from La JoBa, Calif.
'Ihe three finalist teams were what was left of 48
teams that went through elimination every Tuesday
and Thursday night from Feb. 3 through Mar. II,
according to Trivia Bowl coordinator Jay Matzke, a
freshman pre-med major from Sidney.
A special challenge match was held with Juris Law
competing against a team comprised of Dick Perry,
KFOR spottscsstcr, Ken Dader, vice-chancellor for.
student affairs; Monte JCiffin, defensive coordinator
for the Ilusker football team and Nebraska Lt. Gov.
Gerald Whehn.
Juris Law won 150 to 30.
Gamma Gamma Awards for outstanding service to
the Greek system were given after the bowL
The Frank M. IMgren Scholarship was awarded to
Maurice Green of Theta Chi, and Al Eveland of Delta
Tau Delta won the John Abrahamson Award.
Dr. C. Bertrand Schultz, later Fraternity Council
Advisor and member of Theta Xi fraternity was
honored with a scholarship that was started in his
name.
