Twenty workshops during the two-day period will explore the relationship between law and social work, Coyne said. "Social workers need to become more aware of the law and the legal process, she said, 'because many social problems can be helped by the law." For example, Coyne said, Nebraska law allows the st3te to take a child away from his parents if there is evidence of child abuse, one of what she called the social problems. The workshops, each chaired by a lawyer and a social worker, will feature speakers discussing potential pro blems and help for social workers, she said.
