Ralph Abernathy to spetik Ralph Abernathy, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) will speak in the Nebraska Union Thursday night at 7:30. The public event is sponsored by the Nebraska Union Program. Council's Black Activities Committee. Abernathy became SCLC president after the 1968 assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. He rose to national prominence in 1955-56 when he and other black leaders, including King, led the Montgomery, Ala. bus boycott.
